We are often asked, "how can I help". Here is an opportunity to learn about predatory lending a bill currently being proposed to further prey on the poor. Please read and take action where you're able.ACTION ALERT: HB 5097—introduced in the House on October 10—would allow payday lenders to make loans of up to $2,500, with fees of 11% monthly on the principal of the loan. Based on our calculations, we estimate that a one-year loan would carry an APR of around 132-135%.

HB 5097 exposes Michigan consumers to predatory loan products with few consumer protections. Join CEDAM and the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Lending's effort to protect hardworking families and sign on to an organizational letter to our representatives.
